Life can be challenging as a young mom and sometimes it seems like there is no one who understands or can help. But there is a place that offers support, education, and community referrals. A place to build friendships with other moms. A place to grow and become the best woman and mom you can be. Come join us at Fristers. We understand what you’re going through and we want to support you.

EDUCATION

Fristers focuses on Parenting Skills, Life Skills, Relationship Issues and Education and Career Guidance… information and skills to help moms with what they are facing today, and get them prepared for tomorrow.

GOALS

We take time for our moms to look at where they are in their lives and to dream of where they want to be tomorrow. We help them set realistic goals that will move them toward achieving those dreams, encourage them each month, and celebrate their action and successes!

COMMUNITY REFERRALS

There is a lot of support for young moms in the community. Fristers makes sure all moms know where to go for WIC, immunizations for their child, emergency shelter if needed, Cal Learn, Cal Works and AFLP, as well as other organizations and programs that assist young moms.

SCRAPBOOKING

Fristers is all about scrapbooking! At the beginning of our year, every mom is given a scrapbook. Each week, time permitting, we spend time decorating the pages. At the end of the year, every mom has a special memory book to keep.

SUPPORT

Baby stuff is expensive! Fristers receives many donations of gently used baby clothes and accessories and we pass these on to our moms.

CELEBRATIONS

Every month we celebrate birthdays with cake, candles and a “Happy Birthday to you!” We also celebrate Thanksgiving, Christmas and Easter with a traditional meal, and honor our moms on Valentine's day and Mother's Day.

FUN ACTIVITIES

Fristers is not just for learning, but for having fun! Once a year we bring in a professional photographer to take mother/baby photos and each mom is given a 5x7 color photograph to take home. And during the summer months we get to together for fun social events like bowling and a family-style picnic.
